Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 261: Gojo’s Return?

Everyone is excited because of the cliffhanger of Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 260. The chapter ended with a a shadowy figure that many speculate to be Gojo himself. In chapter 261, we will finally get to know if Gojo has truly returned!

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 260 Review

In order for us to talk about chapter 261, we have to discuss chapter 260. Itadori and Todo are fighting Sukuna and giving him a hard time. And to no one’s surprise, Itadori lands yet another black flash against Sukuna. After taking a beating, Sukuna decides to use his domain expansion again but as he makes the hand symbol for it, he sees a ghostly figure in front of him.

“Then Sukuna saw a ghost of immense strength, who he had buried with his own hands.” That is the final line of chapter 260 and the shadowy figure does look like Gojo. Is this ghostly figure Gojo and has be returned from the dead? Fans think so but I don’t think that will be the case.

The line that stands out the most is the final one “who he had buried with his own hands.” I think this line might be literal and that Sukuna buried this person before. And we know he didn’t bury Gojo. In fact, Gojo’s body was taken away from the battlefield. But that might be also why it can be Gojo because he was taken away to be healed if that was possible.

Gojo has already returned from death so he may again after dying yet again. Or this might be an illusion of sorts that is meant to distract Sukuna so that Itadori can stop him from using domian expenasion. That move is the triumph card and if the crew doesn’t stop it, it is all over for them.

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 261 Release Date

Chapter 261 is going to be released on May 26 2024 and it will be heavily viewed by millions of fans of Jututsu Kaisen. And like everyone else, I can’t wait for the reveal. But knowing Gege Akutami, the author of JJK, I expect it to be a misdirection. He is known to hate Gojo and the two deaths of Gojo do hint that he isn’t his favorite character.

The reason why I think Gojo won’t be coming back from the dead is that it wouldn’t make sense in the story that Gege is trying to tell. He has set it all up so that Itadori can take down Sukuna and to bring back Gojo now would make the last 30 chapters pointless.

I know many fans want Gojo to return and I do think he will return eventually. But only after the battle with Sukuna is settled. Or maybe Gege finally got tired of being attacked online by millions of fans and decided to bring back Gojo and appease them. In a few days we will find out!
