Choosing just three books by Christie seems like a crime in itself! But this list is going to try and narrow the three best books written by her. These are the three novels I would recommend to anyone that hasn’t read a novel by Christie before.
From what I have gathered, the top three books by Christie seem to be agreed upon. What doesn’t seem to be agreed upon is the order. And that is totally fine. We all enjoy and like books for different reasons and have our own criteria that books have to meet. You can see the three novels we ended up choosing below!

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd
The novel that I decided to list as the best Christie novel is The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. It is the best mystery novel by Christie in my opinion. And while it may not be the most iconic, it is the novel that I thought about the most after finishing it. If you are a fan of Christie, then this is a novel that you have to read at least once.
And Then There Were None
This is the novel that you will automatically think of first when thinking about Christie. And Then There Were None is a brilliant whodunit novel that has inspired dozens of novels. The premise of ten people on an island dying one by one is simple yet ingenious. Every other author angry at themselves, yelling “why didn’t I think of this!?”
This is the best selling crime book of all time and has influenced hundreds of works over the decades. This novel has had a big impact on murder mystery novels and many authors have recreated the plot of this novel many times. But nothing is ever going to replace the original and it is a novel readers should read often.
Murder on the Orient Express
Coming in third is Murder on the Orient Express, a novel that imagines a train as the murder scene. And just like the two previous novels, it is clever and will keep readers entertained. The novel is well written and a lot of fun and highlights Christie’s best tropes. Habing this as your third best novel is a great accomplishment because this novel would be many author’s best book by a longshot.

These are the three best Agatha Christie books of all time. While many fans may know her most popular novel And Then There Were None, we believe that is her second best novel. Murder on the Orient Express is the worst plot that Agatha Christie ever came up with. The idea that ‘everybody did it’ is absurd.

Tie between Mysterious Affair At Styles & Murder at the Vicarage
I think of The Mysterious Affair at Styles first. Of course, it was my first introduction to Agatha Christie’s books when I was younger. I loved the conclusion. And then the other books. But I was always a Ms. Marble fan favorite.
Murder of Roger Ackroyd is writing masterpiece it was my first Agatha Christie novel but I feel And then there were none deals with a lot of themes some of them as unique for crime-thriller and with that book she pioneered the idea of using such characters and themes in mystery genre so if I have to position these novels, it’ll be 3. Murder on the Orient express, 2. Murder of Roger Ackroyd, 1. And then there were none
And special mention to one of her underrated gem, the unexpected guest.
