Somebody check their calendars because it feels like we are back in the 2000s again as the Harry Potter books are in the news again. Amazon’s Audible and Pottermore Publishing have teamed up to release a full casr audiobook for all seven Harry Potter Books.
That means that we will be getting seven new audiobooks for all the books which will only be available on Audible, set to arrive in late 2025. And it is going to be crazy considering there will be over a 100 performers to voice the many characters in the series.

The new audiobooks will not be replacing the ones that are already out. The cast has yet to be announced and the new audiobooks will have “a groundbreaking new soundscape.” This will feel a cross between a play and a movie with the high level of production.
“JK Rowling’s storytelling lends itself perfectly to the application of new audiobook technologies, and we’re certain this sophisticated, immersive audio experience will not only add a new listening dimension for existing fans but will introduce a whole new generation of listeners to the wizarding world,” said Neil Blair, chairman of Pottermore Publishing.
With the news of the Harry Potter TV show already greenlit, this seems on brand. Harry Potter is one of the biggest franchises in the world and it still have a big fanbase. Even with all the conroversy surrounding J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter has navigated the waters well, as Pottermore distances itself from Rowling.
I think this is a great idea and I am all for it. Yes, I know it is a money grab but what isn’t at this point? If it leads to an amazing audiobook with amazing voice acting and amazing sound effects, I can live with that. Audiobooks is trying to carve itself a lane and by choosing one of the biggest and most popular franchises out there, it has a good chance to do just that.
