I enjoy reading fantasy novels and all the fun worlds that authors build. And when I read the blurb for Dragonfall by L.R. Lam, I knew I had to read it.

I am currently reading this novel and won’t try to spoil to much. The book is different than your usual dragon books as it includes the point of view of the dragon. Everen is the first dragon to return to the human world in centuries and it is up to him to reclaim the dragons’ old home. But to do so, he needs to bond with a human named Arcady who Everen is bonded to.

The plot is interesting and it reads like a heist novel which I always love. Everen learns how to be a thief as Arcady takes him under his wing (no pun intended) hesitently.

While it got off to a slow start, I am hooked now and can’t wait to see what happens next. Like many fantasy novels, there is a destiny that forshadows what will happen and I am not the biggest fan of this. It spoils a lot and you can tell what is going to come next.

This has been overdone in fantasy novels and should be put to rest. It was innovative when J.R.R. Tolkien did it but it feels like every other fantasy novel has used this plot device.

I will write a full review once I finish this book and see how it holds up. Right now, it is once again a little slow but better than before. Hopefully it has a good ending or I will be disappointed.
