Goodread’s Five Most Popular Historical Fiction Novels of the Past Decade

Where the Crawdads Sing

Where the Crawdads Sing
Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

Many readers will not be surprised to see Where the Crawdads Sing top the list as the most popular historical fiction novel of the past decade. When it came out, this novel was everywhere and even in 2020, it was the most sold novel since it was released. I enjoyed every second of this novel and do recommend it to everyone who loves a good mystery novel.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

Evelyn Hugo is a former star and keeps tpo herself mostly. But when she decided to auction her famous gowns for charity, she chooses Monique Grant to interview her about the auction. Upon meeting, Evelyn tells Monique that she wants her to write her life story, promising to reveal to Monique’s questions only if she writes the book.

All the Light We Cannot See

A novel that has gone down as a modern classic has to be All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. Few novels have been able move readers like this novel. And if you had to read one historical fiction novel from the past decade, then this is the one that most readers would recommend.

Daisy Jones & The Six

Taylor Jenkins Reid lands two novels on the list, the second being Daisy Jones & The Six. The novel tells the story of a band that comes together in the 1970’s and rises to stardom. But Daisy Jones finds out she is pregnant just before the tour. A producer puts them together and realizes that this is the formula for succcess, changing the trajectory of everyone involved

The Nightingale

Coming in at fifth is my favorite historical fiction novel of the past decade. The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah is an amazingly well written novel about two sisters during World War II and the choices they made during the Nazi’s occupation of France.
