The famous Ripley’s Believe It or Not announced on Tuesday that it will be giving away free books in Florida as a response to the state’s banning of books.
When three of Ripley’s book titles were removed and flagged for review at Florida’s Escambia County Public Schools district, Ripley’s decided to fight back. They will be giving away books from now until May 15,2024. Florida residents can request a book by mail at Ripleys website here or they can get them in person at any of Florida’s Ripley’s Believe It or Not attractions.

Other books banned include works from Stephanie Meyer, Maya Angelou, Ernest Hemmingway, and Charles Dickens.
“The very idea of banning these books is worthy of entry to Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Ironically, Escambia County officials are practically authoring our next book for us,” said Ryan DeSear, Vice President of Attraction Operations for Ripley Entertainment, about the book bannings. “While Ripley’s response to this issue is a bit tongue-in-cheek, we very much encourage all Florida residents to claim their free copy and decide for themselves.”

It may seem like no books are safe from being banned in the state of Florida. But actions from organizations like Ripley’s and artists such as Pink giving away free books helps the public fight back against these nonsensical laws.
