The Winds of Winter 2024 Update

Everyone is waiting for author George R.R. Martin to release the sixth book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series. It has been over a decade since the last novel. That is why we will be looking at The Winds of Winter 2024 update and see how close Martin is to finishing this novel!

Millions of fans are eagerly waiting for The Winds of Winter to be released. But Martin just hasn’t been able to finish it. It is frustrating because he has put out other books and projects since 2021, the last book in the series. So, how much of novel has Martin written?

The good news is that Martin has been transparent with his progress with the novel. Last we heard, Martin was 75 percent done with the novel. And while that might sound good, I don’t know how to take it.

After this update, Martin hasn’t really said much, instead focusining his attention on various other projects. That sounds like he hasn’t made much progress if any. Martin knows that we are begging for this novel and he is trying his best. But it is taking too long.

As fans of the series, we are getting impatient with every passing day. Martin wants to give the books the proper ending and is working hard. But with false promises and nothing to show for it, readers are getting furious. We fear the series may never be completed at this rate.

No More Updates About The Winds of Winter

There hasn’t been any recent update on The Winds of Winter. I remember coming across an article that mentioned Martin saying he’s 75 percent done months after first saying it. And that may indicate he made no progress or has been busy.

Every author has their own way of writing and I once read Martin say that after he writes, he will go back often and edit it. That may be what he has been doing and that is why he is still only 75 percent done. But with little update besides the 75 percent comment and nothing since then, it feels like Martin has left us in the dark.

When the Wins of Winter Will Come Out?

Yes, this is discouraging as a fan because we don’t know when to expect thos novel. As of right now, I would estimate it coming in late 2025 or some time in 2026. Martin’s slow pace and progress make me believe he has at least another year of writing and editing left.

All I can say is that it won’t be coming out in 2024. Hopefully Martin updates us soon about the novel. He hasn’t mentioned in on his blog. I imagine he is tired of people constantly pestering him about the novel but he only has himself to blame for that.

It is true that fans can be hard on authors and are always asking for the next book in the series. But in this case, Martin has earned every criticism and comment. When a novel takes over a decade to be released, fans don’t think the book is ever going to come out. But in this scenario, we are told that Martin is working on it.

Other series have been completed since this timeframe. That alone tells us that Martin is making slow progress. He has the ending planned out but can’t seem to write the scenes as he envisions them.

Authors have a two-way relationship with readers and it feels like Martin hasn’t delivered his end of the bargain. And what infuriates fans is that he’s working on various other projects that he has delivered on. It may be a long wait till we get The Winds of Winter and who knows how long till the one after that to wrap the series.
