Must Read Thrillers
Stephen King may be one of the best authors to pick up a pen in the mystery and thriller genre. He knows how to pique reader’s interest and never stops with the pace picking up after every chapter. The Shining is a classic but to be honest, you can’t go wrong with any of his novels.
A bunch of spy novels made the list because they were just that good. The Day of the Jackal by Frederick Forsyth is a brilliant novel that is a page turner! Tom Clancy’s The Hunt for Red October by Tom Clancy speaks for itself as it has effortlessly become a mainstream phenomenon.

Is there a better thriller novel than Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris? When you are reading the novel, it doesn’t feel like there is. What makes this novel interesting is that it isn’t even the first novel in the Hannibal series. But it is definitely the best book partly because it centers around Hannibal.
One of my favorite all time novels that made this list is Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane. If you like reading novels where you can’t trust the protagonist, then this is for you. The movie is also great and I recommend watching it after reading the novel so the plot twist is spoiled.

Conclusion
That is all for this list of the 25 must read thriller books of all time. How many books on the list have you read? What thrillers should we add to our next list? Let us know in the comments below!
Make that 23 since there are 2 repeats (again!)
25 thriller books but several appear multiple times, who writes this bullsh@t?
Girl on a train is listed twice.
Same books are mentioned more than once. Not 25 books
“Books of Brilliance” An unreliable on line books review…
Stockholm – Sweden.
I know no one else cares but I hated The Patient.
“The Patient” or “The Silent Patient”? 2 different books.
You put girl on train and Killin floor two time
Thank you for this list. I love a good thriller. One that I thought should have been on was The Red Dragon by Thomas Harris. I love your list, though. Vicky Denman
“Red Dragon”, not “The Red Dragon”.
Books that should be on the list:
• “Seven Days in May” by Charles W. Bailey II and Fletcher Knebel (The single best thriller I’ve EVER read. It’s also a great 1964 movie.)
• “The Parsifal Mosaic” by Robert Ludlum (My favorite thriller writer, along with Thomas Harris.)
• “Six Days of the Condor” by James Grady (Made into the great 1975 film “Three Days of the Condor”.)
The list has been corrected. There are no longer any repeats.
Presumed Innocent by Scott Turow
Where is “I am pilgrim”…the best thriller ever written
