Fourth Wing Dominates BookTok and the Bestseller Lists
In 2023, Yarros released two novels that propelled her into superstardom. In May, Fourth Wing was released and it became an instant hit on BookTok, a book community on Tik Tok. The author followed up with another novel in the series, Iron Flame, in November.
Few books and authors become this successful. That is all because how talented Yarros is. The fantasy genre has a lot to offer and I am always eager to see where the genre goes next. It is rare for two novels two be released in a popular series this close to each other.
The formula has been successful and you can see Yarros on many bestseller lists. And fans are eager to know when the next book in the series will be released. Recently, she gave an update about the next book.
Fourth Wing Third Book Update
“We haven’t announced yet, “Yarros said in an interview. “I will tell you that the speed at which I wrote Fourth Wing, in between I wrote In the Likely Event, and then I wrote Iron Flame happened so quickly in the middle of touring, in the middle of everything, that it was really hard on my body.”
Writing novels at a fast pace is no easy task. Besides the physical toll on the body, writers often face writer’s block. On top of that, Yarros has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a rare inherited condition that affects connective tissues, causing joint pain and dislocations.
Violet Sorrengail, the protagonist of Fourth Wing, also shares this condition. “I’m respecting my limitations and taking [things] a bit slower so that I can be healthy through all of it,” Yarros says. “So, it’s going to be a little bit slower. But I have a release date, I just can’t tell you yet.”
The good news is that there is a release date. Yarros is withholding it for now but it is great to know that she is working on her novel and not facing writer’s block.
This is the biggest fantasy novel since The Hunger Games and fans can’t wait to devour the series. Expect blockbuster movies in the near future but for now, we will be eagerly wait for Yarros to release her next novel and top the charts.
