Bram Stoker’s most famous vampire has reached the top of Audible’s fiction chart. The Associated Press’s rankings for the week ending October 9, published October 13, place the new dramatized adaptation of Dracula at No. 1.
The list also gives fantasy readers plenty to recognize, from He Who Fights with Monsters to Rebecca Yarros and Matt Dinniman. For listeners choosing their next audiobook, the highlights offer two very different routes: a fresh performance of a classic or another trip into an ongoing fictional world.
This Dracula Is a Full-Cast Adaptation
According to Audible’s official announcement, the English-language production launched October 1, 2026. Jonathan Bailey plays Dracula, Ella Purnell plays Mina, Aimee Lou Wood plays Lucy, and Maggie Gyllenhaal plays Professor Van Helsing.
Robyn Ahern adapted the story, Mary Lambert directed it, and Ilan Eshkeri composed the score. Together with the ensemble cast and sound design, those elements make this a dramatized production rather than simply a narrator reading Stoker’s text.
Audible’s description puts Mina’s investigation at the center: when her fiancé disappears in Transylvania, she follows letters, diary entries, and testimony toward the threat endangering the people she loves. That emphasis gives prospective listeners a useful sense of this version’s approach before they press play.

Fantasy and LitRPG Stand Out in the Rankings
These are selected fiction-chart highlights from the Associated Press’s Audible rankings for the week ending October 9:
| Rank | Audiobook |
|---|---|
| 1 | Bram Stoker’s Dracula |
| 2 | He Who Fights with Monsters 13 |
| 3 | The Witch |
| 4 | Threshing Day |
| 8 | Dungeon Crawler Carl |
| 9 | Carl’s Doomsday Scenario |
| 10 | The Dungeon Anarchist’s Cookbook |
This table shows selected entries, rather than the complete top ten.
My takeaway is the prominence of fictional worlds that invite readers to stay for multiple books. A long series asks for a considerable investment, but it also makes choosing the next listen easier once its characters and storytelling have won you over.
LitRPG adds another attraction: its game mechanics give readers a different way to follow character growth, danger, and progression. For someone curious about the genre, the chart offers a reason to explore it, although a high ranking alone cannot tell you whether a particular series will suit your taste.
What Should You Listen to Next?
Choose Dracula if you want an ensemble performance of a Gothic story. Before selecting an edition, check the cast and adaptation credits: different recordings of the same classic can offer substantially different experiences.
If the Yarros entry catches your attention, our guide explains whether you need to read Threshing Day before Fourth Wing Book 4. Understanding where a companion book fits can help you decide when to read it.
For any unfamiliar series, start by checking its reading order and listening to a sample. The narrator’s delivery matters when you will spend hours with the same voice.
