Dan Brown’s Robert Langdon Is Returning as Netflix’s The Secret of Secrets Series Begins Filming

Robert Langdon is officially heading back to the screen.

Netflix has announced that production is underway in Prague on its new series set in the world of Dan Brown’s bestselling novel The Secret of Secrets. Morgan Spector will play Brown’s famous Harvard professor and symbologist, while Rebecca Hall will appear opposite him as noetic scientist Katherine Solomon.

The project does not currently have an official title, despite being widely discussed as a The Secret of Secrets adaptation. Netflix describes it as an untitled series based in the world of Brown’s novel. That distinction suggests the adaptation may not follow every part of the book exactly, although its central mystery remains closely connected to Brown’s story.

Netflix confirmed the start of production on September 4, 2026, and released a behind-the-scenes photograph of Spector and Hall together in Prague. A premiere date has not yet been announced.

Morgan Spector Is the New Robert Langdon

Morgan Spector will become the latest actor to portray Robert Langdon.

Spector is best known for playing George Russell in HBO’s The Gilded Age. His other credits include The Plot Against America, Homeland and Netflix’s Black Rabbit.

He takes over a role most closely associated with Tom Hanks, who played Langdon in the movies The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons and Inferno. Ashley Zukerman also portrayed a younger version of the character in the television adaptation of The Lost Symbol.

Hall brings an impressive body of work to the role, including performances in The Night House, Passing, Resurrection and Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Cuse has said that the project is being conceived as an eight-hour series. That expanded format could allow the adaptation to spend more time exploring Prague, developing Katherine and explaining the questions about human consciousness that drive the novel.

It should also make it easier to preserve the rhythms of a Dan Brown thriller. Each discovery can lead naturally to another location or puzzle, while episodes can end with the twists and revelations that make Brown’s books so difficult to put down.

This format may be particularly well suited to The Secret of Secrets. The novel does not rely on only one central conspiracy. It brings together science, spirituality, consciousness, romance and an international chase. Compressing all of that into a single movie could leave its most ambitious ideas underdeveloped.

Carlton Cuse and Dan Brown are co-creators of the series.

Cuse will serve as its showrunner, writer and executive producer. His previous television credits include Lost, Bates Motel, Locke & Key, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan and Five Days at Memorial.

Brown is also an executive producer, giving the author a direct role in bringing his newest Robert Langdon story to television. Emma Forman of Genre Arts and Zoe Robyn are executive producers as well.

Brown’s involvement should reassure readers hoping that the series will preserve the central ideas behind the novel, even if Netflix changes characters, events or story details during the adaptation process.
