We all read for different reasons and often times will come across a novel that moves us. That is why we will be curating a list of books that will make you cry while reading them. Find out what books made our list!

Most of the time, I will be reading something packed with a lot of action but I will take a break and read a beautifully written novel that will have me crying. Novels like these remind us why books are beloved and that we aren’t alone.

Beloved 

Toni Morrison’s are amazing and will move you. She has many classics under her belt and she will make you cry and see the world through the eyes of her protagonist in Beloved. Morrison received the he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1993 and rightfully so. 

A Man Called Ove 

When I first picked up A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman, I did not know that I would be going on a rollercoaster of emotions. This beautifully written novel about an old man who wants to die but is always interrupted is going to change the way you see the world around you. I had to stop reading after every couple of chapters and let the writing sink in. That alone should tell you how amazing the novel is. 

Flowers for Algernon 

If you love sci-fi novels, then you are in for a treat. Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes is a novel that will make you cry and deservedly so. Keyes was a writer for Atlas Comics (they later became Marvel Comics) and this was a pitch that he decided to save and eventually wrote it as a short story and later expanded into a novel. And millions of readers are glad that Keyes did just that.
