Anyone who has read or watched Game of Thrones knows that George RR Martin loves to kill characters left and right. But not every scene in his novels sits well with his fans. Today, we will be discussing the one scene that made fans never to read George RR Martin’s books again!

HBO’s Game of Thrones series was one of the biggest TV shows ever aired and the success of that show is still scene today. From Game of Throne spinoffs and prequels to other TV shows using the format that Game of Thrones created, we are seeing the impact of the show everywhere.

But no show has replicated the shock value and violence that Martin has come to be known for. And sometimes that is more than what his fans can handle. In 2000, Martin released A Storm of Swords came and one scene did not set well with scenes. The Red Wedding as it has come to be known led to fans sending Martin angry letters.

One of those letters said “I’m so angry with you – I’m never going to read your work again. I threw the book into the fire, then a week later I had to know what happens, so I went out and bought another copy.”

You know you are angry when you throw a book into the fire. If you have read the Red Wedding scene, then you would agree with the fan’s reaction. I first saw the scene on the show and I was infuriated. After that, I was less excited about the show but I did end up reading the books and they were a lot better than the show. It helped knowing some of what was going to happen because if I read that scene for the first time, I would have thrown the book across the room.

Martin has a few things to say about that scene but I won’t share it here because it contains spoilers. You can check it out here if you are curious. But if you do plan on reading the books and haven’t see the show, then I would advise against it.
