June 2025 is officially in the history books and it may have been my best reading month ever. Keep reading to find out what books I read in June 2025 and would recommend readers to add to their reading list!
I started off June by reading a popular novel after the author won a Nobel Prize in Literature in 2024. The Vegetarian by Han Kang was a powerful and beautifully written novel and one that led me to needing to take a walk afterwards and contemplate what I just read.
After reading this novel, you will agree that Han Kang deserved the Nobel Prize. This wasn’t the only award winning novel I read in June. I decided to finally get around and read The Murderbot Diaries and was glad that I did. Almost half of the books I read were part of the series. You can see the full list of books I read below!
Books I Read in June 2025
- The Vegetarian by Han Kang
- The Mystery of the Blue Train (Hercule Poirot, #6) by Agatha Christie
- Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly by Anthony Bourdain
- Miss Marple: The Complete Short Stories by Agatha Christie
- Waste Wars: The Wild Afterlife of Your Trash by Alexander Clapp
- Days at the Morisaki Bookshop by Satoshi Yagisawa
- The Sympathizer (The Sympathizer #1) by Viet Thanh Nguyen
- All Systems Red (The Murderbot Diaries, #1) by Martha Wells
- Artificial Condition (The Murderbot Diaries, #2) by Martha Wells
- Rogue Protocol (The Murderbot Diaries, #3) by Martha Wells
- Exit Strategy (The Murderbot Diaries, #4) by Martha Wells
- Network Effect (The Murderbot Diaries, #5) by Martha Wells
- Fugitive Telemetry (The Murderbot Diaries, #6) by Martha Wells
- System Collapse (The Murderbot Diaries, #7) by Martha Wells
- Bluebird, Bluebird (Highway 59, #1) by Attica Locke
- The Big Four (Hercule Poirot, #5) by Agatha Christie
I ended up reading all seven books in the Murderbot Diaries in 10 days and that was me showing restraint. After reading the second novel, I started to binge read all of the books, wanting to see what Murderbot’s next adventures were!

In 2025, I have already read more nonfiction books than have for the past few years combined. I have been making an effort to read more nonfiction, especially if it catches my interest.
And in June I read two great books; Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain and Waste Wars by Alexander Clapp. Both were informative and I would recommend both of them to anyone who enjoys a well written nonfiction book.
As you can see, I am still reading Agatha Christie novels and was able to read three more. I have finished the Miss Marple series and have officially moved onto the Hercule Poirot series. That has 39 books and will take my most of 2025 to finish!
There were two surprise picks this month and I am glad that I chose to read The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nguyen and Bluebird, Bluebird by Attica Locke. I also was able to read Days at the Morisaki Bookshop by Satoshi Yagisawa, a Japanese novel and a series I have come to enjoy this year.
Conclusion
When I started reading The Vegetarian in the beginning of June, I didn’t know that it would be the first of 16 books I would be reading that month. That is a new record for me and one I still can’t believe I was able to accomplish.
July most likely will not be the same because I will be a lot busier. That won’t stop me from reading every day. I still have a lot of incredible books I want to read. I enjoyed every book on this list and would recommend every one of them. Happy reading!
