Everyone Wants to Know if Sarah Jessica Parker is Actually Reading Two Books a Day

Over the past decade, Actress Sarah Jessica Parker has become synonymous with books. She has even started her own imprint and made headlines about her reading habits after a recent interview.

While talking to Page Six at the PEN America Literary Gala last week, Parker shared that she is currently reading two books a day in order to prepare herself to judge the Booker Prize. 

“It’s intense to be reading [that number of books],” Parker told the reporter “The volume is kind of hard to convey, what it’s like to have as many books we are given the opportunity to read in a month. It’s quite something.”

The Booker Prize is awarded each year to the “the best sustained work of fiction written in English,” and it is decided by a board of judges. There are a lot of books to choose from and can be a daunting task that requires a lot of reading. 

When people saw Parker’s quote about reading two books a day, they did not believe it. There are a dozen of reasons for it but the main one I believe is that that is a lot of pages to read in a day. 

What people are forgetting is that if Parker is deciding to read two books a day, she can allocate the time needed which can be anywhere from 6 to 10 hours in my estimation. Most people would have to read the books while working or going to school. But Parker’s schedule will be a lot more flexible, especially if this was something she wanted to do.

Some people may be dismissing this claim but I don’t think that is the case. Parker is a voracious reader who loves books and people who love reading will always make time for them. From my own experience, I can say that it is a doable task especially if she is reading multiple books a day.

Everyone is quick to forget that Parker has an imprint and has made it her job to read books. And what Parker was saying was that she doesn’t usually read two books a day but has made it her goal to in order to prepare for the Booker Prize. 

I love reading books but I have seen people that live and breathe books. Sarah Jessica Parker is one of those people and she has no reason to lie about something like this.
