We are more than three months into 2025 and that means a monthly recap of all the books I read in the previous month. Keep reading to find out what books I read in March 2025 and see what books catch your eye!

My reading goal for 2025 was a 100 books and I am amazingly still on pace to meet that goal. In March, I was able to read 10 books and got a bunch of books off my reading list. I read a bunch of different books and was able to check off some amazing novels.

March may have been the best reading month that I had in a while. I read so many incredible novels and can’t wait to read even more amazing books going forward. Choosing what books to read is always the hardest task and things worked out perfectly in March. You can see all the books I read in March below!

Books I Read in March 2025

The Women

The Women by Kristin Hannah February new books
The Women by Kristin Hannah

I am a huge Kristin Hannah fan and finaly got around to readding her latest novel The Women, a novel about women serving in the Vietnam War. I’ve been a fan for a decade since I read The Nightingale and have loved seeing her become more successful over the years. She is a talented writer and one that everyone needs to read.

The Women was released in early 2024 and went on to become the best selling novel of the year. It was everywhere and was loved by critics and readers alike. This novel lives up to the hype and one that will make you cry and learn about the Vietnam War and the heroes who were ignored as they suffered in silence.

James

James by Percival Everett historical fiction books

You know a book is worth reading when it is first on Barack Obama’s annual summer list. James by Percival Everett was one of the best books of 2024 and one that everyone should pick up and give it a read.

James tells the story of Jim from The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain. Everett shines a light on Jim and tells his story and he doesn’t hold back. You will laugh and cry and wonder why nobody else decided to give Jim a voice before Everett.

James went on to win the 2024 Kirkus Prize and the National Book Award for Fiction. They were well deserved and James was always one of the best books released in 2024 in my opinion and one you should read as soon as possible!

The Berry Pickers

The Berry Pickers by Amanda Peters
The Berry Pickers by Amanda Peters

The Berry Pickers is Amanda Peters debut novel and it a beautifully written novel that surpassed all my expectations. I found my eyes watering many times and even though you knew what would eventually happen, the story is well told and I love how Peters sets it all up.

The novel is about a Mi’kmaq family that travels down from Nova Scotia to Maine to pick blueberries in the summer. One day, four-year-old Ruthie goes missing. Her family searches for her but never find her. The novel tells the story of Ruthie and her family and their lives after the kidnapping.

The novel won numerous awards such as the 2024 Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction, the 2023 Barnes & Noble Discover Prize, and the 2024 Crime Writers of Canada Best Crime First Novel Award.

Other Books I Read in March

A Murder is Announced by Agatha Christie

These were the three standouts and each novel was incredible and I was smiling at my luck, being able to read all these incredible books in a short span. But there were other books I enjoyed even if they weren’t as good as those three.

I read multiple Agatha Christie books and I loved seeing different styles from her. Reading her books close to each other highlights certain trends she does and how her writing style changes over the years. These are less popular Christie novels but they were still fun to read.

I finally got around to reading The Restaurant of Lost Recipes by Hisashi Kashiwai and it was as good as I expected it to be. If you love food and a good mystery, then you’ll enjoy this comfort novel. I will be reading more Japanese books and can’t wait to discover even more incredible books.

Lastly, I was able to read two amazing fantasy novels. They were both long and took a while to finish but I was glad I finally finished the two series. The Fury of the Gods (The Bloodsworn Trilogy Book 3) by John Gwynne and To Green Angel Tower (Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn #3) by Tad Williams are both great conclusions and ones fantasy lovers will enjoy.

Conclusion

That is all for the books I read in March 2025. I read three incredible books that made March amazing but I also read some Agatha Christie novels and finished two great fantasy series. If you need a book recommendation or two, any book from this list will hold you over. Happy reading!
