Fantasy author Brandon Sanderson released the fifth book in the Stormlight Archive series, Wind and Truth in early December. That wraps up the first half of the series and everyone is wondering the same thing; When will the next Stormlight Archive book be released?
The first half of the Stormlight Archive took 15 years to complete according to Sanderson. And it was worth it. We got five amazing books and each novel surpassed the previous one. But now, Sanderson will be taking a break from writing The Stormlight Archive books and instead focus on his Mistborn series along with finishing the Elantris series.
There is good news however as Sanderson plans to release a Stormlight Archive spinoff following the story of Rock that takes place during book four.
But for the most part, fans want to know when Sanderson will be releasing the 6th Stormlight Archive book. And there is good news and bad news. The good news is that there is a plan in place for Sanderson to release the 6th book. The bad news is that it will be in either 2031 or even later.
Sanderson thinks that it will be earlier than what he and his team is projecting the release date to be so that is some more good news. Here is what Sanderson had to say about the next book.
“I think I’ll likely be faster than some of our projections, but I want to be careful to make a conservative estimate of when I’ll get back to Stormlight. So, for now, enjoy Book Five, and savor it.” – Brandon Sanderson
Well, there you have it. The Stormlight Archive series is done for this decade and should be put in the back of your head until 2030 is here. Sanderson has many projects that he is working on and will be focusing on those in the coming years.
After a 1000 plus pages of Wind and Truth, we shouldn’t complain and instead follow Sanderson and his numerous projects because he has tons of other amazing books and series worth reading!
