We all love seeing our favorite books being adapted into movies and TV shows. But most of the time, the adaptation is not that good. But sometimes the adaption is just as good if not better than the book. That is why we will be looking at book adaptations that readers loved according to Buzzfeed.
There are hundreds of book adaptations every year and many of them do not do the books justice. But we won’t be focusing on those today. Instead, we’ll look at some great book adaptations over the years that won over readers. That is not an easy feat because we hold our favorite books close to our hearts.
This list includes some old and new amazing adaptations that have done the book justice. From the classic To Kill a Mockingbird movie to The Hunger Games, this list has it all. You can see the full list below!

Holes

I remember being in class and watching Holes and I was hooked. This movie was incredible and I ended up reading the book afterwards. Few movies get it right but Holes surpassed all those expectations with one of the best book adaptations ever.
“It’s the closest reflection of source material I’ve ever seen and both the book and movie are soooo good.” – amandac4103107d2
The Green Mile
Just like Holes, I watched The Green Mile in school and was amazed by how good the movie was. Stephen King’s novels are always being made into movies and with successful transitions such The Green Mile, we can see why this trend is popular.
“I thought was absolutely perfect. I watched it for the first time not long after reading the book and I just thought it was all exactly as I had imagined it.”

The Hunger Games

We all remember when The Hunger Games took over the world as it was everywhere. The movies soon followed and were actually good? Many dystopian novels ended up being horrible movie adaptions (they weren’t that great as books either) but The Hunger Games were great in both mediums and made Jennifer Lawrence a superstar in the process.
“Even though there are a lot of scenes they didn’t include in the movies, i feel like the ones they did include were really extraordinary and with the outstanding performances of Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence, (especially in Mockingjay 2) they were able to portray the Capitol, the games, and the messed up society they lived in perfectly.” – aranzadelapuente
The Silence of the Lambs
Lastly, one of my favorite horror books out there is The Silence of the Lambs. The novels were great even though The Silence of the Lambs is the one that gets talked about the most and led to a great movie. Horror adaptations are always the hardest to adapt and make them true to the novel but The Silence of the Lambs was able to achieve that.
“It’s a classic film for a reason. I expected the book to be miles better, like books so often are, and I was surprised to find myself thinking that as good as the book was, the film was easily its equal, and possibly even superior. The film captures the characters and the tone of the book so perfectly that I would almost say not to bother reading the book. – alanamuir
