Basketball superstar LeBron James’ second children book, I Am More Than officially released today.
The writing was done by James and the illustrations were done by renowned illustrator Nina Mata. The children’s book tells children to pursue their dreams and that they can be whatever they want to be.
To announce the release of his latest book, James shared his message with USA Today as well as all of his social media accounts.
“This book furthers my mission,” James says. “It’s right on point with what my mission is, and what our mission is at IPS (I Promise School) and in my community. It’s important for us to continue to have these because these kids that we have, they look up to us. Not only in our hometown of Akron, Ohio, but all over the world. I am an inspiration. I understand that, and I have a huge responsibility on my shoulders and on my back. It’s important for me to continue to spread the positive word to these kids that understand they can become anything that they want.”

James released his first children’s book I Promise in 2020. His latest book’s target audience is 4-8-year-olds. James also shared his thoughts about I Am More and had this to say about it. “When they ask me who I am and what it is I do, I say I can do anything because I know it’s true.”
Many fans of LeBron James can see the similarities of the message with the LeBron James Family Foundation, which helps families and children in Akron.
James is not the only NBA player releasing children’s books. Earlier this year, fellow NBA superstar Stephen Curry also is releasing a second children’s book.
“Coming off of the first book, ‘I Have a Superpower,’ we are always obviously trying to create amazing storytelling for kids that can inspire confidence and embracing how unique they are,” Curry said about his second children’s book I Am Extraordinary.
And just like James, Curry’s organization Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation focuses on helping children, the focus being on nutrition, literacy, and physical activity.
“Life has an interesting way of revealing where you need to be,” Curry says about his organization. “This is something that with the right investment, with the right approach of getting kids the appropriate culture relevant, age appropriate books, tutoring, which is another element of what we’re doing.”
