The Harry Potter TV show is finally in the works and fans are curious to see who will be playing some of their characters. We will be looking at the Harry Potter TV show cast and see which actors are rumored or favorites to land the roles.

Before we dive into the cast, it is a great time to talk about the show. The MAX streaming service (formally known as HBO) TV show is expected to be 7 seasons, one for each book. That should be interesting because some books are a lot bigger than the others. How much new stuff will the TV show add and how much will J. K. Rowling have a say?

We know that Rowling has signed off on the show or it wouldn’t be happening. But as this is a completed series, she might not have that much input. The show is expected to be released in late 2025 or early 2026 but I imagine the latter to be more likely.

Everyone is asking who will be cast as the trio of Hogwarts. Actor Toby is the favorite to play Harry Potter as he is the frontrunner. He has been in projects such as Woolf Rare Beasts, The Last Post and Pistol. Harry’s best friend Ron Weasley could be played by Joshua Pickering who has starred in Peter Pan and Wendy and A Discovery of Witches.

We don’t have anything on Hermione as of yet but expect that to change in the coming weeks. Oscar winning actress Helen Mirren is being talked about to play teacher Minerva McGonagall.

And we may see Tom Falton return to the Harry Potter world. But he wouldn’t be playing Draco Malfoy but his father Lucius Malfoy.

Now, we get into the land of speculation and wishing. Fans have considered Adam Driver to play Severus Snape but these might be just rumors. If anyone can pull this off though, it would be Max. And fans are curious to see who will play Dumblebore. Right now, Blair Underwood is being talked about to play the strongest wizard alive.
