Actor Megan Fox has joined the wave of celebrity authorship as she’s recently announced the release of her new book Pretty Boys Are Poisonous. The book, which includes around 70 original poems by Fox, is set to be officially released on November 7.

While Fox has captivated the media’s attention with her tumultuous love life, the book seems to want to remind the public of Fox’s identity and talents outside of the male gaze. Fox’s work also speaks to a desire that the reader, especially female readers, should seek to redefine themselves outside of the men in their life and a society riddled with gender stereotypes.
“I’ve spent my entire life keeping the secrets of men, my body aches from carrying the weight of their sins. My freedom lives in these pages, and I hope that my words can inspire others to take back their happiness and their identity by using their voice to illuminate what’s been buried, but not forgotten, in the darkness.”

Some of the book’s material will likely focus on Fox’s relationships, especially those that have met the scrutiny of the public eye, such as her marriage to actor Brian Austin Green and her engagement to singer Machine Gun Kelly. However, it is speculated that, given Fox’s dedication to speaking out against misogyny, the book will also speak on the power imbalances and gender inequalities plaguing Hollywood.

“These poems were written in an attempt to excise the illness that had taken root in me because of my silence,” said Fox.
Overall, the 192-page book promises to be a significant read. Not only will it reflect the ideas and experiences of one of today’s most influential women, but it will also comment on current dilemmas with what publisher Simon and Schuster calls Fox’s “wicked humor.”
While the book is set to be released in the fall, it is already available for pre-order on Amazon, where it has become a best-seller.
