As December starts to fly by, even more book lists are being released. Today, Slate released their picks for the best books of 2022 and it has some names that have made other lists and some that I am seeing for the first time here.

To Slate’s credit, their list looks solid. They have a bunch of books that have been talked a lot about and also included books that other organizations ignored or overlooked. It is interesting to note that there aren’t any household authors to make the list.

Slate’s Unique List

A couple of books on the list that seem to be making most lists are The Candy House by Jennifer Egan and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. They seem to be the ones everyone agrees are good. It still feels too early to decide what are the gems of 2022 but we will have a lot of years to let it sort itself out.

There is no right or wrong answer here as liking a book is subjective. The editors at Slate enjoyed these books and that is true for most of the book lists that have been published so far. Personal preferences doesn’t make it the best book of the year but a general consensus.

Conclusion

Expect a bunch more lists to be released in the coming weeks and I shall try to cover most of them. I might even release one because of how much I have been covering them. In the past, I would just go to the annual Goodreads list and I am seeing a lot more books by checking out most of the lists from various organizations.
