Netflix will be making a prequel show for the Witcher world called The Witcher: Blood Origin. It is going to be a six-episode series focusing on the first Witcher ever.
Blood Origin will be set 1,200 years ago in the elven world. There is a lot we have been told and a lot more we haven’t about the Witcher world and this show will clear that up. Plus, we can see the first Witcher and he came into existence.
The show will be about the events that led to to current world where monsters, men, elves, and dwarves live as one. Yes, there isn’t peace so we can’t really call it living as one but they coexist in the same world to a certain extent. And we can find out how the counsel of witches and wizards came into being.
The United Kingdom will be where the show is going to be filmed. And the author of the novel Andrzej Sapkowski will be the creative consultant on the show while Declan da Barra will be the executive producer and show runner and Lauren Schmidt will also be the executive producer.
I am glad that the author is going to be consulted. But that doesn’t mean much to me cause we all saw what happened to Game of Thrones. Let’s hope Sapkowski is consulted a lot because there isn’t any books about the origins of the Witcher world which is being unfortunately being called the Witcheruniverse.
As a fan of the novel, I am looking forward to the upcoming show that has no release date yet. And the second season of Witcher. it is hard to believe that the show has only one season down so far and is already getting spinoffs. Maybe a new book will also be published about the origins.
