Fantasy author George R.R. Martin has been in the news recently because of. lawsuit surrounding A.I. and his Game of Thrones books.

A.I has infringed on the rights of many writers and it is up to the courts to determine whether A.I. is allowed to train using copyrighted material. We all know that they are doing it and until the courts step in, it will continue to be the wild wild west.

Martin’s lawsuit got us thinking if he should embrace A.I and use it to finish his latest novel The Winds of Winter. It has been over a decade since Martin released the last book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series. And it seems like we will never get the next book in the series at this rate.

Many fans of the series want to read the next book but Martin has been delaying it to the point that we all have given up hope at this point. And that makes us wonder if A.I can rectify this situation?

As of right now, Martin is in bad standing with A.I and we don’t blame him. These companies have used copyrighted material to train their A.I. without properly compensating the parties at hand. It is ironic that these companies will spend billions of dollars to train their A.I. models but won’t pay the people that own the copyright.

Normally, I would be against this suggestion but I do not think that we will be getting The Winds of Winter otherwise. Martin has no motivation to finish the novel or the series and that is unfair to all his fans.

At this point, I am open to any method that helps Martin finish the novel. And A.I. is something that many authors have embraced, even if many won’t admit it openly.

Martin knows how the novels will end and is stuck on certain scenes at this point. I believe the backlash of the final season of Game of Thrones may have scared Martin. He probably fears letting down his fans again and this time, he’ll be the one blamed.

Many authors have faced writer’s block but it has never been this bad. And Martin is writing other books and TV Shows so he is working, just not on The Winds of Winter. The alternative of Martin not using A.I. is that the novel never gets finished and I don’t want that to be the case.

It’ll be a while before the courts make their decision and I don’t think Martin will side with A.I. going forward. But as a fan of the series, I wish that he at least is open to the idea because I don’t see another solution to this dilemma. At this point, I do think he has given up on finishing the novel and series.
