Basketball is coming back and to celebrate that, we decided to highlight some of the best books to read for basketball lovers! Keep reading to find out what books made the list!

If you have ever gone through the categories on this blog, then you have most likely seen the basketball category. It is one that I don’t use often because basketball and books don’t often cross paths. And yes, there are tons of books about basketball but this isn’t that kind of blog.

But when I see an article discussing books about basketball, I decided to do my own research and curate a list of some of the best basketball books ever written. This list is for anyone who likes basketball and wants to pick up a book and read about it. I know I will be reading a couple of these books in the near future. You can see the full list below!

The 1980s were dominated by the Showtime Lakers and Showtime by Jeff Pearlman looks back at that era and the iconic moments that the Lakers superstars created. Without the Showtime Lakers, the National Basketball Association might not be as popular as it it.

There have been many iconic players and rivalries and one player that has come to stand at the top of basketball is Bill Walton. He won 2 NBA Finals and The Breaks of the Game by David Halberstam looks at his 1979-80 season with the Portland Trailblazers.

One of the most exciting teams in the history of the NBA was the 2005-2006 Phoenix Suns. Former NBA player Jack recalls that famous season in his book :07 Seconds or Less and the controversy surrounding that season as well as the famous system that made the Suns a nightmare to play against.

Conclusion

No matter your favorite team, there is a book about it from former players or sports writers that followed that team. These books cover some of the most famous players and seasons and give us an inside look that we wouldn’t hear about otherwise.
