Book lovers all have experienced having a reading slump. A great cure for that is coming across amazing books that you fall in love after just a few pages. That is why we will be looking at 7 book recommendations to keep you reading late into the night!
Finding Book Recommendations
Some people will either read 10 books in a month and then not read anything for the next couple of months. It all comes down to the books we choose to read. Not every book is going to be amazing and by not having another book queued up, you won’t read anything.
That is why I always like to have a list at hand of books I want to read. You can either browse the internet or bookstores and add books to your to-read list. We have a list of some of our favorite reads to help ensure you have reading material.
This list contains a lot of mystery and classic novels. There is a good chance you may have read many of them. But these novels span across many decades and you may have never gotten around to reading them. We have also included classics that you may have read in high school. But reading them for fun is a whole new experience. You can see the full list below!
Book Recommendations To Keep You Reading

- Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
- The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett
- The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith
- Watership Down by Richard Adams
- The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka

The Silent Patient
When reading a whodunit novel, except a plot twist that will make you question your whole existence. And a novel that did just that to me is The Silent Patient. It is a whodunit combined with a Greek story about a lesser known character. The suspense, tension, and clues in this novel have made it a must read.
The Maltese Falcon
It has been almost a century since hardboiled fiction novels have had their heyday. But the classics that these era produced are still worth reading such as The Maltese Falcon is a detective novel filled with lots of murder and blood. One of my favorite elements of a hardboiled fiction novel is the constant plot twists as if you are in a maze. There is never a dull moment and Dashiell Hammett’s novel delivers on all fronts.
The Talented Mr. Ripley

A classic thriller that I loved is The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith. It is a fun novel that follows the descent into madness of Ripley and what he will do to keep his new life going. Highsmith is a unique character that explores the true nature of a person and what people are capable of.
Station Eleven
Emily St. John Mendel’s novel Station Eleven is one of the best dystopian novels ever written. It is about a band of actors and musicians who travel around the Great Lake region in a post-apocalyptic word. But the band runs into trouble when they encounter a self-proclaimed ‘Prophet’ who uses violence to get whatever he desires.
Watership Down
Watership Down by Richard Adams is a must read. You may be hesitant because the novel is centered around rabbits. But once you start reading it, you won’t be able to put it down. It is a brilliant and well written novel that has aged well over the decades.
The Metamorphosis
Gregor Samsa is a travel salesman who day wakes up and finds himself transformed into a vermin. This new circumstance makes Samsa ponder his live as he struggles to get out of bed. He stays confined to his room as his family tries to survive without Samsa as the provider of the family anymore.
To Kill a Mockingbird
Like many readers, I first read To Kill a Mockingbird in high school and couldn’t put the novel down even if I wanted to. The story is told by the viewpoint of Jean Louise Finch and tells the story of Atticus Finch defending Tom Robinson, a black man who has been accused of raping a white woman in Maycomb, Alabama.
