Commentary

This list includes some great novels. The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger is a great coming of age novel that readers either love it or hate it. Personally, I think it is a good read and I decided to give it a reread after seeing it in many people’s lists. The novel holds up well and there is a lot to take away from the book. And yes, the novel feels outdated but it still has a lot of things to say that few books have done since this novel was first published.

Besides the Salinger novel, I haven’t read any other novels on Scarlett Johansson’s list unfortunately. I hope that changes by the end of this year. Middlemarch by George Eliot is a classic and while I have seen it a lot, I have never gotten around to reading it.

Another novel/author I haven’t read much of is Roald Dahl besides The Chocolate Factory. I have seen many people say they like Dahl’s novels and that makes me feel like I am missing out. Which novel should I read first?

Conclusion

Overall, I think this a great list because it contains a lot of novels that many people have and have not read. It is has a good variety of novels and has helped me add more books to me to-read list. Which novels have you read or would like to read?
