It is still too soon to rate some of these books as classics. The past ten years have been great for the genre and many new authors have made a name for themselves. Madeline Miller has become a household name in a short time and has released two great novels in the past decade.

Other great novels that made this list are Mexican Gothic, Gideon the Ninth, Station Eleven, and The Martian. Andy Weir has become one of my favorite authors and he hasn’t disappointed me yet. Tamsyn Muir is also becoming a leading author in the genre with her incredible world building, storytelling and blending of genres.

About half of these books aren’t science fiction, they’re fantasy. What you’ve done is the equivalent of claiming you’re doing the top 10 mystery books, and putting Pride and Prejudice on it because, like Sherlock Holmes, it happens in England.

What great science fiction books could have been on this list if their spots hadn’t been taken by fantasy ones? Why not do two lists? If you like fantasy, which I do, I’d like to see your top 10 fantasy books.

This list serves neither genre well.

If you can’t tell the difference between scifi and fantasy, you should not write about either. This “article” was not beneficial in any way.
