The Five Must Read Classics

The Classics

Like most readers, I have a love hate relationship with the classics. Some of them are amazing like To Kill a Mockingbird and The Count of Monte Cristo. And then you’ll come across a classic that will make you never want to read a classic again. But for the most part, I have enjoyed most classics and I am glad I gave them a chance.

The Catcher in the Rye is an interesting pick because it is a novel that readers either love or hate. There is no in between. After revisiting this novel, I do believe it deserves the recognition it has gotten over the decades. There is a lot to take away and the novel is even more relevant in this day and age.

One of the most popular novels ever written had to be The Handmaid’s Tale. Some people may have read it in school while others read it for fun but either way, it is an impactful novel. The T.V. show has made it relevant again as well as introducing it to a newer generation.

Three of those I reluctantly choked through, and two I still refuse to read. Just because the masses happen to enjoy a book, movie, or album, DOES NOT MEAN, automatically, that I MUST like some selection! Shouldn’t you get to know someone BEFORE strongly recommending anything?
