Not everyone is an avid reader. Some people prefer TV or movie adaptations. I am all for it because adaptations will get many people to check out the original source material. Seeing the characters come to life is also a thrilling experience when done right.

But many adaptations don’t live up to the expectations. The cast is sometimes not the best, the script leaves out some major parts, and 2 hours is not enough to tell the story. Other times, everything aligns properly and a classic adaptation is made that you will end up watching dozens of times.

Adaptations to Look Out For

There are a bunch of movies to check out this year. From The Color Purple to Dine: Part 2, everyone will have something they will enjoy. Seeing a few big names like The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes will drive millions of fans to theaters.

The one movie that caught my eye is The Last Voyage of the Demeter, Dracula by Bram Stoker. Unlike most adaptations, this one is based off of one chapter of the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker. If you haven’t read Dracula, you will be confused. Hopefully, it stays true to the novel as I really enjoyed this scene in the novel.

Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann has been filmed by Martin Scorsese and will be released in October. Well-written account of true events begun when the Osage began profiting off oil found on their lands, including the beginnings of the modern FBI. Great book, can’t wait to see Scorsese’s treatment.

Not to be picky however The Last Voyage of the Demeter is not based on Dracula by Bram Stoker. They are telling the part of the story he left out.

Why a remake of the Color Purple? How could it be better than the original? There are so many books that would be great movies.
