A popular genre that takes over the book world every decade or so are paranormal books. These books fall under the romance and speculative fiction genres and have a huge following. We decided to list the best paranormal books of all time to see which ones are the best ones out there!

Trying to judge paranormal books is not an easy task as it contains an array of possibilities. You will see everything from demons, werewolves, and vampires as well as combinations that will make you curious to read more. A great writer can make these stories come to life and who doesn’t love a romantic demon that also craves your blood?

The Best Paranormal Books of All Time

City of Bones

Clary Fray, a fifteen-year-old, witnesses a murder committed by three teenagers that have strange tattoos all over them and weapons she doesn’t recognize. And then they vanish into thin air as the body disappears. Should Clary even call the police when there is no evidence that a murder even took place?

This encounter leads Clary into the world of demon hunting as she gets involved with Jace and other Shadowhunters. She is caught up as Jace seeks revenge and soon as Clary herself is attacked by a demon. Why can Clary see them and why are demons interested in Clary and her mother? She needs answers to these questions and try to make sense of the new world she has entered.

A Discovery of Witches

Diana Bishop is a young scholar at Oxford and one day, she accidently calls up a manuscript that is bewitched. She wants nothing to do with sorcery and doesn’t want to follow in her family’s footsteps of being a witch. But Diana is the only one that can stop the various daemons, witches, and vampires that want to claim the treasure that has lost for centuries.

Twilight

Isabella Swan moves to a town that seems uninteresting until she meets Edward Cullen. As she learns about his secret, she herself becomes targeted by another vampire. Can Isabella and Edward make their relationship work and can Edward protect Isabella from other vampires?

The one title that everyone will be familiar with on this list is Twilight. And while it does fall under the paranormal genre, fans of the genre will be quick to point out that it barely scratches the surface. And while I do agree, it is one of the best selling series of all time and has given the paranormal genre a lot of attention it wouldn’t have gotten otherwise.
