Eventually, Gaiman would work his way to DC Comics who were impressed with his work. At DC, Gaiman worked on Sandman which launched him to stardom as he rose to fame.

In 1996, Gaiman would publish his first solo novel Neverwhere which was released with the BBC mini-series. The novel and show had some differences and Gaiman would revise the book twice before he was satisfied with the result. In 1999, Gaiman followed up with his second novel Stardust and in 2001 with American Gods. The latter would go on to become a best-seller and win many awards as well as being one of Gaiman’s best-selling book.
